About this artwork
"Contrary I" is one of the oldest works still in the artist's possession, which he never saw the need to revise. It was created for a group exhibition entitled "Art & Emotions", the colors used were selected according to the most popular associations with the most important human emotions, such as blue for loyalty and clarity and red for passion and anger.
The technique he used, with which he applied countless layers of paint over a long period… of time, incorporated details and then made them disappear, is still one of his basic working methods. The aim is to simulate a naturally created surface, which often only allows further planning of the completion of the subject in the last few weeks of its completion.
« Art that fascinates me is often like a symbiosis of philosophical magic and good craft. »
