About this artwork
In his painting “Prometheus (Individual)” Andreas Garbe combines philosophical considerations with aspects of human history. What, he asks through this work, would be the individual, embodied by the pioneer, leader or even constructor without the "anonymous mass", which is also composed of many individuals and which ultimately gives shape to their ideas and visions, so to speak manifested? And what would these helpers, nameless in the historical…
context, be without their spiritual “guide”? To visualize this question, the artist makes use of the legend of Prometheus, the titan who brought fire to people in Greek mythology and thus represents this fundamental question as an allegory.
