About this artwork
Second work in a series of spontaneous portrait paintings. The basis is numerous layers of arbitrarily applied acrylic paint, with the beginnings of a portrait already being created in the top layer. In a final step, everything is painted over in monochrome and a frontal view of a suggested human head is revealed with a special rubber spatula.
Each portrait created in this way is intended to symbolize the complexity of the human individual and invite… the viewer on a journey into his innermost being.

Andreas Garbe is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland.
