“In the Flow” is a vertically arranged textile work that translates movement, time and change into a calm, concentrated visual form.
Fine, hand-embroidered lines and transparent layers of fabric permeate the composition like currents. Different textile materials overlap, creating a multi-layered depth reminiscent of water, growth, or inner processes.
The reduced color palette of blue and turquoise tones is punctuated by subtle accents, lending… the work a vibrant yet meditative presence. The vertical orientation reinforces the impression of continuous flow – a state between stability and change.
"In Flux" exists at the intersection of textile art, painting, and object. Depending on the viewing distance, the work unfolds either as a delicate structure or as a calm, clear overall composition.
Anke Pradel-Schönknecht uses textile materials as well as painting, collage, and mixed media – her creative path led her from classical painting through studies in textile and surface design to experimental textile art. With sophisticated techniques such as dyeing, printing, sewing, and layering diverse materials, she creates three-dimensional relief images and art quilts that combine tactile and visual stimuli. Her artworks convey curiosity, sensuality, and a captivating depth; they invite viewers to understand structures not only visually but also emotionally.
