About this artwork
“Dreamscape” is a multi-layered textile work in which painting, material and handwork combine to create a dense, atmospheric pictorial space.
Delicate layers of color in rose, gold, and earth tones overlap with handcrafted structures. Sewn lines, fragile fabrics, and handcrafted materials create a relief-like surface that oscillates between dissolution and density. Some sections resemble geologically formed features, while others evoke fleeting,… almost immaterial states.
The work unfolds like an inner landscape – a place between memory and imagination. Depending on the light and viewing distance, depth, brilliance, and structure change, constantly revealing new levels of perception.
The combination of traditional hand embroidery with contemporary material art lends the work a special tension between intimacy and artistic presence.

Anke Pradel-Schönknecht uses textile materials as well as painting, collage, and mixed media – her creative path led her from classical painting through studies in textile and surface design to experimental textile art.
