About this artwork
The sculpture, with its large horns and gilded finish, evokes the symbolism of the bull in the Mediterranean. In Spain, it represents strength and cultural roots; in Crete, it was a sacred animal linked to rituals and the myth of the Minotaur; and in the cult of Mithras, it symbolizes regeneration and cosmic power. The piece can be understood as a symbolic bridge between these Mediterranean traditions.
It is a stylized and geometric work, more symbolic… than naturalistic. It combines compact volumes and curved lines (horns) with angular planes (body and legs), creating tension between dynamism and solidity. The gilded finish reinforces its ritual or totemic character. The marble base provides contrast and elevates the figure, which is perceived as an archetype of strength and sacredness rather than a simple animal representation.
