With Epojé, Arribas won an award at the 19th Catalan Biennial of Contemporary Art. This work is constructed from a vertical, minimalist, and restrained composition, where the pictorial energy is channeled toward the center like a symbolic waterfall.
The expressionist gesture is concentrated in a luminous band that emerges with force, balancing vibration and restraint. Here, painting… becomes a philosophical action: hedonistic and Dionysian in the Nietzschean sense, overwhelming yet conscious.
As Nietzsche himself suggests, this work does not appeal to a decorative story, but to a story that serves life and action. In Vertical Balance, painting doesn't illustrate: it acts.
