For ‘Bubbles’ I envisioned creating a playful light-hearted piece-hence the name- where various circular elements float over a central female figure who blows these ‘bubbles’. In this artwork a baby lion happily exists representing the animals and there are also some photos of flowers and some drawn plants and mushrooms for the flora representation. The female here depicted as a direct connection to the natural kingdom, a staple statement in my works.… If you look closer there is the female symbol drawn in orange oil pastel in the middle of the painting, an anchor of sorts.

Athina Pappa is an artist with a Diploma in Architecture from the Democritus University of Thace in Greece and a Master’s in Visual Communication (majored in illustration) from Birmingham city University in the UK.
Her academic focus throughout her studies has been the notion of metaphor and visual symbolism. She has painted and drawn since she was three years old and she's been doing it professionally since 2013.
Her style is a vibrant blend of dream-pop symbolism and feminine spirituality, employing expressive layers of acrylics, oil pastels, and collage textures with influences from visionary art and sometimes art nouveau. Through both expressionistic and more meticulous techniques, she crafts works that evoke a sense of wonder, optimism, and the urgency for harmony between humanity and nature and the balancing of the male-female energy dipole.
