About this artwork
In Twilight there is a soft greenish light that even though it is not the typical shade of twilight colours, it still conveys that beautiful transition that happens after sunset or before sunrise. 'Twi' literally means two referring to a dual nature and in-between state and here there are soft colour gradients from blues to greens and also yellows marking this hybrid state. Twilight is sold and is now part of a private art collection in Thessaloniki…

‘The dreamy quality I often chase in my practice is about accepting that a different world is possible, we only need to perceive it first. In this context I like to think of my artistry as a celebration and an act of resistance.'
Athina Pappa is an artist with a Diploma in Architecture from Democritus University of Thrace in Greece and a Master’s in Visual Communication (majored in illustration) from Birmingham City University in the UK.
Her academic focus has constantly been the notion of metaphor and visual symbolism. She has painted since she was three years old and she has been doing it professionally since 2012.
Her style is a vibrant blend of dream-pop symbolism and feminine spirituality, employing expressive layers of acrylics, oil pastels and collage textures with influences from visionary art and art nouveau. She crafts works that evoke a sense of wonder, optimism, the urgency for harmony between humans and nature and for the balancing of the male-female energy dipole.
