About this artwork
Renge 12 is a further expansion of her interpretation of cause and effect based on the word Renge by visually exploring the simultaneity of cause and effect symbolized by flowers that seed and blossom in muddy water - at the same time. Her work is influenced by Buddhist traditions of T’ien-t’ai in China and Nichiren Daishonin in Japan (1222-1282). In this case, the flower appears to be growing out of a concrete base in a spatially diverse environment.
