About this artwork
The aim for this work was to create two figures who are so close that they seem to be one. Barbara Kuebel chose black as her favourite colour for printmaking because woodcut in this size should transmit a monumental aspect which only is obvious in black. The wood was taken from a large piece of construction material. The technique intentionally makes use of the strong structure of the wood, the gaps and the natural fibres.
