About this artwork
This painting is part of an ongoing series exploring what I think of as the world beneath the surface-the unseen spaces where wonder, memory, grief, healing, and imagination all coexist.
When I paint, I often feel like I’m stepping into a place that exists somewhere between land and sea, dream and reality. Strange and Fabulous emerged from that space. As I worked, I kept thinking about all the things we cannot see but somehow feel: energy moving… through a room, the pull of memory, intuition, coincidence, and the mysterious connections that seem to bind us together.
The floating forms, tangled growth, and unexpected colors are my way of giving shape to those invisible forces. They suggest a world that is both beautiful and slightly wild- a place where strange things are not frightening but full of possibility.
Living through chronic illness and many surgeries has changed the way I experience the world. Strange and Fabulous is a reminder that we are surrounded by mystery.
