About this artwork
I painted this work during a period when I was navigating chronic illness, exhaustion and uncertainty. There were days when simply getting out of bed felt impossible, yet I kept finding myself pulled back into the studio by something larger than fatigue.
As I painted, these botanical forms began to gather and swirl together, creating a landscape that felt suspended between beauty, chaos, light and shadow. The painting became a reflection of what… I was experiencing internally- a reminder that even in difficult seasons, beauty continues to emerge.
Much of my work explores what I think of as “the place in between”- a space between the physical world and something less tangible. In this painting, the forms drift between water, garden, memory, and dream. Nothing is fixed. Everything is moving.
For me, this piece is about resilience, wonder, and the choice to keep following beauty, even when life feels uncertain.
Bianca Youngers is a self-taught painter based in Portland, Oregon, working primarily with acrylic on canvas and drawing on her background in Theatre Arts and visual storytelling. Her layered, abstract technique fuses organic forms with atmospheric spaces, informed by landscapes, botanical imagery, and geological formations, yielding compositions that balance the dreamlike with the grounded. Her paintings evoke spaces of reflection and wonder, inviting viewers to journey through grief, healing, and transformation while discovering curiosity, connection, and hope.
