About this artwork
In this work, I set the scene within the studio, where several expressionistic figures wander around a stool. I construct the image as a space in motion, where the bodies turn and shift in a constant search for creative inspiration.
The figures appear fragmented and laden with gesture, like presences orbiting around an empty center that draws attention. I'm interested in this circular, almost ritualistic dynamic, where the repetition of movement… generates an accumulated tension within the space.
The studio becomes an active space, permeated by intersecting and overlapping energies. The painting captures this process of exploration, where inspiration is built through movement, persistence, and the very act of painting itself.

César Sánchez González works primarily with painting and drawing, rooted in a training that understands both media as active spaces for exploration. His technique is characterized by the accumulation of gestures, strokes, and materials, developing process-oriented surfaces where the pictorial, the object-based, and the conceptual coexist in a balance between control and chance. In his pieces, the viewer experiences an intense material presence, an invitation to contemplation and to connect intuitively with the transformation and mutable meaning of the work.
