About this artwork
Original upcycling work made from a mosaic of colored aluminum squares, cut from cans collected everywhere. These "pixels" are stapled onto a PVC panel (support recovered from printing companies), without adding paint.
The pixelation pushed to the point of abstraction of this parrotfish eye allowed me to play with joyful color gradients, while reminding us that by 2050, there is likely to be more plastic than fish in the oceans.
Buying committed… art and upcycling means supporting an artist's approach that wants to be part of the solutions rather than the problem.
CanB primarily uses recycled aluminum cans, drawing on a background combining art history and creative self-teaching in Reunion Island. His innovative technique blends a meticulous mosaic of metallic "pixels" with artisanal rigor, exploring diverse styles—from Impressionism to Surrealism—and creating immersive and fascinating works. His creations, both luminous and committed, convey hope, wonder, and a keen awareness of the fragile beauty of the world we share.
