About this artwork
“Fragments of Light” is a work imbued with abstract poetry, unfolding a profound dialogue between visual perception and inner emotion through layered geometric forms and flowing colors. The overall composition evokes a world fractured by light—each polygon appears as a burst of refracted beams, interwoven and stacked like shards of broken glass, constructing an image that is both orderly and chaotic.
A subdued gray background sets the stage for… hues of violet, blue, yellow, and green to blend and move across the canvas. This visual instability reflects the modern mind’s confrontation with an overload of information and complex emotions. The colors mirror emotional reflections, while the geometric shapes symbolize our attempts to rationally organize and interpret the world. The overlapping and transparency of the forms reveal a network of experiences, memories, and perspectives intricately intertwined......
Chien-Li Chen, a painter and visual artist trained at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse, works across painting and visual symbolism to explore time, memory, and perception. He builds his mesmerizing compositions from layered geometric forms, symbolic codes, and typographic motifs; transparent strata, vibrant colors, and the grammar of breathing infuse his kaleidoscopic, multi-temporal structures. His technique evokes feelings of vertigo and poetic suspension, immersing viewers in a living, ever-becoming field where memory is repaired and time is felt as both rhythm and presence.
