About this artwork
“ZIP #4” is the manifesto work of the series, in which the very concept of painting is questioned.
The frame, usually a marginal element, here becomes the absolute protagonist: textured, gilded, engraved like an ancient trace, it merges with the painted surface to assert its centrality. The deep and vibrant red interior offers a field of tension and concentration.
At the center, a vertical cut interrupts the continuity of the surface: an essential… gesture that opens up the space, challenges the boundary, and introduces a further dimension. The painting is the frame. Or perhaps, the frame is the true painting. What remains visible is a threshold: between inside and outside, between matter and space, between what contains and what opens up. On display at the MIIT Museum in Turin.
Claudia Amadesi blends multi-material techniques and a passion for nature in her material and minimalist works, transmitting fearless courage in artistic exploration. The works stand out for their ability to play with light, modify matter and use it as a tool to deconstruct and rework reality, transporting the observer into a spiritual dimension. The boundaries with reality become blurred, allowing us to glimpse in each work the fruit of the visceral and interior impulse, grit that characterizes expressive artistic research through the “groove” technique. It is a tale of emotions and sensations, a journey into the depths of the soul. The matter, in her hands, becomes dynamic, comes to life in space, creating plays of light and shadow that amplify the visual experience, an invitation to a profound dialogue between the visible and the invisible, between emotion and matter.
