Old Stranger. An encounter that lingers. The figure is a memory in ash; the skin glows, yet the eyes remain distant—like a door that stays open even after being slammed shut. Scratch marks, a dark patina, a trace. Who draws near, and who keeps their distance? This work demands a specific way of looking, a certain stance, and time. It challenges the audience to recalibrate their gaze and to recognize the otherness that touches us all.

Constanze Kratzsch uses painting, photography, drawing, textile art, and sculpture. She grew up on the island of Rügen and now lives and works in Berlin.
