About this artwork
I was in Cyprus. I had just visited an Orthodox church on the hill above Paphos. It was about 4:30 pm when I headed towards the wreck "Edro III", the sun began to set and everything became interesting.
I see some boys starting to swim around the wreck, until some of them start climbing onto the sunken ship.
The scene that appears before me is evocative for me.
They start diving from the deck at the stern of the ship. It all happens quickly, I… grab the camera and start moving on the rocks to find the most suitable spot.
At some point I understand what I feel.
The ship is the problems that keep us anchored every day and the boy who jumps from the ship represents the liberation from those problems. A kind of representation of the beat generation of today.
