About this artwork
This scene of sunlight through snow covered pines was encountered whilst snow-shoeing in central France. The light, and the exceptional beauty of the colours that its icy refraction caused ,were irresistible. For an even richer, almost tactile, set of colours, I ground pastel pigments as a foundation, glued to the paper with watercolour medium. Over this rough base, I then worked with watercolour and gouache to detail the scene. The rather unfamiliar…
