About this artwork
Atheria is part of my ongoing Siren Cycle. In this piece, I deliberately move away from representation. After working through a series of academic studies rooted in classical realism, returning to abstraction is not immediate. Once realism has been invoked, the hand instinctively seeks recognizable form. The eye wants to resolve the image. The figure insists.
Atheria resists that impulse.
Rather than depicting a siren, this work dissolves her.… Lines spiral, overlap, and collide, forming a vortex-like structure where motion replaces anatomy. There is no body to identify, no figure to stabilize — only circulation, turbulence, and residual energy.
This work marks a shift: from the discipline of academic representation toward a freer, more unstable visual language. The siren is no longer an image to be seen, but a force to be sensed. What remains is not a figure, but a movement — an atmosphere where form briefly appears before collapsing back into abstraction
