About this artwork
Makena is part of my ongoing Siren Series, developed in continuity with my abstract siren works. In this piece, the siren moves away from representation and abstraction becomes the main working language.
I approached Makena with a clear objective: to suggest abundance without excess. To do this, I relied on simple pictorial decisions — layering, soft blending, reduced contrast, and controlled edges. These choices keep the image dense and warm, while… preventing it from becoming illustrative.
The composition was built gradually. Elements were added, blurred, and partially removed until the image reached a balance where forms are felt rather than clearly identified. The figure remains present, but never fully defined.
The result is an abstract siren that prioritizes visual weight and atmosphere over description. Makena is meant to be experienced slowly, as an image that holds together through restraint rather than detail.
