About this artwork
Scotts 5 is the final work in my Scotts series, inspired by a journey through Scotland and the lasting impression of its dramatic landscapes. Unlike the previous paintings, this piece explores a darker and more powerful vision of the country’s rugged character. Mountains and rock formations emerge as an abstract fortress, rising from the land as if protecting an ancient secret.
Created in mixed media on canvas (60 x 80 cm), the work is built from… custom-made modeling pastes that crack naturally while drying, creating the fractured textures that define the composition. Even the sky appears broken, echoing the harsh beauty of the terrain. Smoother areas were formed with dense modeling compounds, contrasting with the relief-like surface. Layers of acrylic paint, acrylic ink, drawing ink, and subtle bronze metallic accents add depth, light, and atmosphere.
Rather than depicting a specific place, Scotts 5 transforms Scotland’s raw essence into a tactile and emotional experience. Timeless.
