Waves 3 is the third painting in my Waves series. Created almost entirely with watercolours, with only the foaming crest of the wave highlighted in white gouache, this work captures the fleeting atmosphere of the sea at dusk. Deep blue and violet waters meet a glowing horizon, where distant land dissolves into soft quinacridone lilac and violet tones beneath an expansive sky. The approaching wave brings movement and energy, while the tranquil horizon…
evokes stillness and contemplation. As part of my artistic practice of creating emotional landscape paintings, this piece is less about depicting a specific place than expressing the emotions nature can awaken—inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and connect with the quiet power of the ocean.
