About this artwork
In Contemporary Space VII, the seated figure, with a raised finger, seems caught in a gesture of enunciation or questioning. Inspired by the world of the Paris metro, it can appear both as a marginal, even contemptible presence, and as a voice silently questioning the daily lives of passersby.
The space is structured by an unstable architecture where reference points become blurred. The arrival of the first step against the wall, combined with… an abrupt change in the direction of the projected shadow, introduces an inconsistency of perspective. A variation in light, marked by a vertical line extending the shadow, suggests a change in the wall's orientation, while the base of the planes remains rigorously straight, reinforcing the spatial ambiguity.
Between human presence and architectural dissonance, the work creates tension between perception, rationality, and everyday experience.
