About this artwork
You can see the sculptural form in this iris and bud. When Elizabeth is out in the field, she takes hundreds of digitals from every aspect of these flowers, and at different times of day. After painting the background, she references a bud from one photo, layering with a bud, or leaves, or flower from other photos. She keeps in mind, the need to subdue some elements in order to emphasize the flower and capture its essence.
