About this artwork
Elizabeth has been painting from an early age and through her 45 plus years of making art, has seen and developed many series. She has been to artist colonies in the USA and Mexico and through that, close observation of nature, and other travel, has developed numerous series. She has gained global attention and sales from shows, museums, and in public and private collections.
She says that in this painting we see a chipping sparrow on old books that… a neighbor lends from his collection. She chooses birds to paint that go with the mood and other colors in the painting. As you can see from the details of the painting, they are loosely painted though, from a distance, they look realistic. She hopes the viewer can enjoy the juxtaposition of unusual objects put together, and the beauty of these subjects.
« I now see my career as a series of new expansions followed by the refinement of long periods of physical application. »
Elizabeth Rickert is an award-winning artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. Her detailed impressions of plants, animals, and nature convey not only the beauty of nature but also solitude and the complexity of rich moments. In her artistic process, Rickert employs varying techniques with oils on canvas. She started as a sculptor, and so, approaches nature with a sculptor's eye- seeing the way shapes and forms and light and darkness interact. She has been fortunate to find museums, galleries, artist residencies, and corporate and private collectors around the world.
