About this artwork
My neighbor has several antiques that he lends me as props for my bird paintings. In this painting, he lent me the old coffee grinder which made a prop with a swinging arm that made a perfect balance with the direction of the chickadees. I have a Japanese maple in the backyard and, as long as it was alive, I painted the leaves and imprinted them into the background, then covered them with paint for a more subtle background. All of these elements…
included for your eyes to circulate around the painting. I hope that you, the viewer ,appreciate the juxtaposition between something so alive and something so old, very much like transitions in life.
This painting is floated in a wooden frame coated with a rubbed neutral metallic paint. The framed dimensions are 15 & 1/2 x 12 & 1/2 x 2 & 1/2 inches.
