About this artwork
" Every canvas is a journey all its own." - Helen Frankenthaler
This is one of my earliest work. I made this piece in Japan right after she returned from Australia trip when was still living in Japan. The abundance of the nature and the spirit of the land Inspired me.
In creating this piece, I delved into a melange of cultural depths and personal expressions. The bold dabs and strokes of acrylic and pastel resonate with the spiritual echoes of… aboriginal inspirations, intertwining with the raw emotions and introspective nuances that expressionism champions. Layered with the subtlety of impressionist influences and the restraint of minimalism, the artwork exudes a harmonious balance. Each smear of charcoal and burst of pigment tells a story, an energetic narrative that invites contemplation and cherished moments of insight. This painting is an invitation to a sensorial journey through colors and forms that reflect the vibrancy and serene complexity of life itself.

« I feel extremely happy when what I paint manifests as an idyll on the canvas I am working on. I then know that I can stop and walk away from it! »
Emi is an exciting painter based in Australia who has exhibited her work internationally. Her art is a meld of an abstract, ethereal patina inspired by Japanese aesthetics and the brazen vernacular of the Australian landscape. Emi employs a litany of mediums including silver leaf and sumi ink to compose paintings that transmit feelings of optimism. Overall, they seek to reconcile ideas of self, heritage and culture.
