About this artwork
The people sit side by side facing the Mediterranean Sea, sharing the same horizon. The sea appears calm and empty, with no swimmers, boats, or visible activity. Yet the photograph is filled with human interaction.
Most of the figures engage with those seated nearby. Small movements of heads, shoulders, and hands suggest natural conversations, while body language conveys attention, interest, and connection.
Others remain detached, focused on their… phones or lost in thought. Although they occupy the same space and look toward the same sea, they seem to inhabit different worlds. Two empty chairs introduce a sense of absence while hinting at the possibility of new encounters.
The image captures a familiar human condition: being together while experiencing different levels of connection. Between the silence of the sea and the quiet exchanges, a subtle story emerges about presence, distance, and human relationships.
