This work is a mixed media on canvas. It combines photography, color, and textile techniques. The photo, the "canvas" of the work, was taken in Mexico. It is a self-portrait, taken on March 8th, International Women's Day. First, a digital collage was created from this photo, which inspired me again and again to go my own way, no matter what it may look like. I would like to share this inspiration with this work. The saying in the middle of the picture… was written with a sewing machine and with the help of embroidery made of gold and colorful threads. This work is a call for non-conformism and for a life outside of all pigeonholes and prefabricated life plans.
Eva Silberknoll, a graduate of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, works with photography, textile techniques and fragrances. By combining these media elements, she creates mixed media that connect seemingly incompatible fields. Her works tell stories of individual journeys and the challenges of deviating from the norm, viewing fashion as a means of self-discovery. With a strong sense of personal freedom, Silberknoll's works exude an inspiring message: be yourself.
