About this artwork
In this work I explore the tension between the hidden and the revealed. The cool blue tones in the background contrast with the warm red and earthy colors of the figure wearing a mask. This mask symbolizes the different roles we play in life, often hiding our true selves behind a facade. The dynamic, sometimes abstract shapes in the painting challenge the viewer to think about their own identity and authenticity. This painting brings a powerful energy… to any home, inspiring reflection and self-discovery.
Ewa Mazur-Koj is a versatile artist who grew up in Poland and has lived in Germany since 2004. She primarily works with acrylic, oil and mixed media. Her fluid techniques mix realism and abstraction, with people often at the center of her work. Her metaphorically rich works focus on the individual, whose feelings and vulnerability are permeated by a subtle eroticism. They are the visual expression of an indescribable world of thought. Colors and lines form her own wordless visual language and permeate the core message of her art.
