About this artwork
In this collection inspired by a woman who smokes, and the sensual attitude that only she knows or can assume. The "cigarette portrait" of photographic memory of the past, pushes me to look for unusual poses of smokers, as I will have the opportunity to show later.
The portrait itself fascinates me, the enigmatic and mysterious image, and one's own identity that in many is ambiguous, or counterfeit. In fact, the faces portrayed show thoughtful expressions,… some absent, others fascinating, involved in the common need to "be such" and not to "have to appear". The search for one's own identity, which pushes towards true self-knowledge, and the awareness that in life everything is appearance.
I created this work by digitizing a photo, I made the whole body graphic without touching the eyes. Penetrating eyes, to reveal dreams, desires, the conception of beauty, the secret of the soul.
