About this artwork
The horror, pain and chaos of Picasso's painting of The Weeping Woman are repeated again in Farzaneh’s works to express the peak of the ongoing disaster in the painter's homeland, Iran. “Weeping Woman2” is on the one hand, an iconic image of the pain of Iranian complainant mothers. On the other hand represent the pain of the artist herself. From this point of view, the weeping woman is actually the artist's self-portrait and expresses the pain… and suffering that she has experienced in her life.
Farzaneh Ravesh, born in Tehran in 1981, is a talented painter and advocate of art education. Her techniques are inspired by greats such as Picasso, repeating and reinterpreting themes. Her emotionally charged works reflect the horrors and suffering of her homeland, Iran. At the heart of her work are always repetitions of previous artworks as a result of repeated historical events, which offers a special insight into the recurring nature of history.
