About this artwork
The Collection is characterized by its vibrant and intense color palette. Artist uses these colors to enhance the dramatic and emotional intensity of the subject’s grief and despair. At the same time Artist chose a monochrome palette for some parts to create a stark, powerful impact. The use of black, white, and grey can evoke the feeling of a newspaper photograph, which underscores the historical and documentary nature of the painting. This choice… also heightens the dramatic tone for a depiction of tragedy and destruction.
Farzaneh Ravesh, born in Tehran in 1981, is a talented painter and advocate of art education. Her techniques are inspired by greats such as Picasso, repeating and reinterpreting themes. Her emotionally charged works reflect the horrors and suffering of her homeland, Iran. At the heart of her work are always repetitions of previous artworks as a result of repeated historical events, which offers a special insight into the recurring nature of history.
