About this artwork
“Weeping Woman2” is on the one hand, an iconic image of the pain of Iranian complainant mothers or Iranian Mothers for Justice, mothers whose children were killed by the agents of the Islamic Republic in various protests in Iran. These women are the mothers of people who were killed during the 2021-2022 Iranian protests. On the other hand represent the pain of the artist herself.
Farzaneh Ravesh, born in Tehran in 1981, is a talented painter and advocate of art education. Her techniques are inspired by greats such as Picasso, repeating and reinterpreting themes. Her emotionally charged works reflect the horrors and suffering of her homeland, Iran. At the heart of her work are always repetitions of previous artworks as a result of repeated historical events, which offers a special insight into the recurring nature of history.
