About this artwork
In the Luxembourg Gardens, a palm tree sends its vegetal fireworks towards the sky.
Its fronds shine in the light or shimmer in the twilight, and its sculpted trunk sparkles with all its scales.
All the trees in the garden have come out for the good weather: the orange trees, the pomegranate trees, the oleanders… and their iron-rimmed boxes make light patches in the middle of the grass and the exuberant flowerbeds.
The shade of the palm tree shelters… a quiet conversation.
Only the children's small sailboats move and crisscross the large basin which shimmers gently amid the light ripples.
The drawing that served as the basis for the painting was made on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 4 p.m.
