Bridges of Still Flow was created in Hamburg's Speicherstadt – a place where urban structure and quiet movement meet in a unique way. Between the tall, brick facades, the water flows calmly through the canals, as if slowing down the rhythm of the city.
The image focuses on this harmonious contrast: the strict architecture of the Speicherstadt, which is arranged in lines and bricks, and the gentle gliding of the water, which simultaneously supports… and opens up the scene.
The calm, clear black-and-white aesthetic underscores this balance. Light and shadow sculpt depth and atmosphere, drawing the eye into the vastness of the canal. The bridges not only connect the buildings – they also connect stillness and movement, past and present.
The work reflects Prieto's ongoing exploration of urban fragility and poetic order, showing how moments of tranquility can be revealed even in densely built urban spaces.
Francisco Prieto Montesdeoca works as a fine art photographer from Gütersloh, where his Spanish roots and professional experiences shape his perspective. Using a pared-down visual language, he creates tranquil black-and-white compositions in which light, geometry, reflections, and architectural details are meditatively and clearly staged. His images open the viewer's eyes to the poetry of urban spaces and invite them to pause, discover depth, and find their own emotional resonance.
