In my work "Anchored Stillness," I explore the silent presence of maritime architecture. A ship lies motionless in the harbor, firmly anchored, transforming its massiveness into an almost meditative calm.
I'm fascinated by how, in this moment, the weight of steel and technology transforms into pure atmosphere – the harbor basin becomes not just a place for ships, but a mirror of inner stillness. For me, this is precisely what makes it more than… just a view: What initially appears to be just a ship in the water reveals itself as a metaphor for arrival, for pausing in the midst of movement.
This work is part of the Nordic Harbour Dialogues series, which visualizes the tension between urban structure and maritime serenity. Anchored Stillness is her central work—an image of lingering that transforms heaviness into lightness.
Francisco Prieto Montesdeoca works as a fine art photographer from Gütersloh, where his Spanish roots and professional experiences shape his perspective. Using a pared-down visual language, he creates tranquil black-and-white compositions in which light, geometry, reflections, and architectural details are meditatively and clearly staged. His images open the viewer's eyes to the poetry of urban spaces and invite them to pause, discover depth, and find their own emotional resonance.
