In this project, I have reversed this logic. I transformed the real space into a negative space using paint and light, so that the location itself becomes the negative structure of a photograph. In the picture taken within the space created in this way, the negative film directly produces a black and white positive image.
The title of the work and the theme refer to Antonioni’s film ’Blow-Up’. The location visible in the image also alludes to the… park scene in the film. In the film, we witness a photographer’s journey as he struggles with the possibilities of analog photography and realizes that his photograph was taken at a crime scene, which he uncovers through the medium of photography. As he approaches the scene by creating a positive from the negative, then a negative again, and zooms in on it, a unique relationship emerges between film, photography, and reality. This project is a conceptual rethinking of the image through the use of digital and analog methodologies.

Gabor Osz is a painter, photographer, printmaker, and conceptual artist with extensive training from the Art Academy Budapest and the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam. She masterfully harnesses light as her primary medium, using both analog and digital processes, including camera obscura and experimental techniques, to deconstruct and rebuild the nature of images. Her interdisciplinary approach produces evocative works that invite viewers to reflect on perception, time, and the very existence of reality, imbuing each artwork with a profound sense of philosophical inquiry and wonder.
