About this artwork
In the creation of this work I mixed materials such as acrylic, plaster, cement and lego, exploring the essence of minimalism and semi-abstract with touches of expressionism and primitivism. In the canvas I wanted to imprison the emotional impetus, that burning spark that challenges the ordered structure of everyday life. With this work of mine, I wish to instill a boundless passion, bringing a visual dynamism into homes that sparks deep conversations…
and thoughts.

Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His visual language—based on the figure of the hominid as a metaphor for the human condition—arises from the dialogue between matter and symbol, between the archaic and the contemporary.
He has exhibited in over one hundred solo shows in Italy and abroad: Columbia University in New York, Staatsuniversität Hamburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, and Galerie Man Arte in Paris. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work. His career is documented in the monograph Alle origini del mito (Silvana Editoriale, 2012).
At over eighty years old, he still works every day in his studio in Salussola, Biella.
He has exhibited in over one hundred solo shows in Italy and abroad: Columbia University in New York, Staatsuniversität Hamburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, and Galerie Man Arte in Paris.
