About this artwork
This creation is the expression of my reflections on language and the personal interpretation of the world around us. I chose plaster for its purity and its ability to capture the contrast of light and shadow, creating a silent yet eloquent dialogue of shapes and symbols. The intention is to evoke curiosity and contemplation, while the dynamism of the forms lends a lively and stimulating energy to the home.
This sculpture belongs to the Plaster… Cycle—a series of archetypal forms shaped over decades. Cecconello works the plaster with the same essentiality with which the archaic masters sculpted stone: nothing is superfluous, every curve a choice. The figures emerge from the material without decoration, without color, without anything unnecessary.
Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work.

Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His visual language—based on the figure of the hominid as a metaphor for the human condition—arises from the dialogue between matter and symbol, between the archaic and the contemporary.
He has exhibited in over one hundred solo shows in Italy and abroad: Columbia University in New York, Staatsuniversität Hamburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, and Galerie Man Arte in Paris. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work. His career is documented in the monograph Alle origini del mito (Silvana Editoriale, 2012).
At over eighty years old, he still works every day in his studio in Salussola, Biella.
