About this artwork
A female torso without a head, without arms. It's not a fragment: it's a choice. Cecconello eliminates the face—the seat of identity and expression—to let only the body speak, its full curves, its silent balance.
It's the same path as ancient torsos, where absence doesn't detract but concentrates. Without a gaze that questions us, without a gesture that tells us where to look, the pure presence of the form remains. The white plaster, luminous and… fragile, makes it both monumental and intimate.
Limited edition of 3 copies, numbered and signed by the artist.
Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work. He has exhibited at Columbia University in New York, the Staatsuniversität in Hamburg, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna. At over eighty, he still works every day in his studio in Salussola (BI).

« Only the art remains. »
Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His visual language—based on the figure of the hominid as a metaphor for the human condition—arises from the dialogue between matter and symbol, between the archaic and the contemporary.
He has exhibited in over one hundred solo shows in Italy and abroad: Columbia University in New York, Staatsuniversität Hamburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, and Galerie Man Arte in Paris. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work. His career is documented in the monograph Alle origini del mito (Silvana Editoriale, 2012).
At over eighty years old, he still works every day in his studio in Salussola, Biella.
