About this artwork
Excess is a bold abstract composition where geometry and gesture collide. Circular marks emerge from layered impasto surfaces, carved and sculpted with a palette knife to create a tactile rhythm across the canvas. These geometric echoes suggest cycles of abundance and repetition, while the heavy textures embody the weight of emotion and intensity.
The palette knife’s sharp movements contrast with the rounded forms, producing a dynamic tension between… control and release. Thick oil layers catch light differently throughout the day, giving the work a shifting presence—sometimes meditative, sometimes explosive. Excess reflects Gery Kempczynski’s expressive style: minimalism Placement Suggestions:

Gloucester Sage (mossy green) or Vintage Vogue (deep green) walls for grounding, contemplative contrast.
enriched with narrative depth, where texture becomes emotion and geometry becomes story.

Gery Kempczynski is a Chicago-based contemporary artist known for atmospheric abstract landscapes and expressive abstract works. His textured oil and acrylic paintings explore the emotional terrain between stillness and movement, blending minimalist restraint with layered depth. Through impasto knife work and gestural brush techniques, he builds surfaces that capture subtle shifts in light, color, and motion.
In his short time on Singulart, Gery has already placed four works with collectors — including the recent sale of Desert Sunrise to a private collector in Yvelines, France. Whether landscape-inspired or fully abstract, his paintings resonate with those seeking art that speaks softly but leaves a lasting impression.
