About this artwork
In this charcoal drawing, I captured the moment of a scream, a raw burst of emotion bursting from the depths. The face distorted by intensity seems to struggle to exist amidst a swirl of black, while the wide eyes bear witness to pain and horror.
Part of my series on broken faces, this cry becomes a desperate act to assert one's humanity in a marked body. The shattered charcoal symbolizes the uncontrollable emotion, and the trembling lines translate… the fragility of this moment. This drawing delves into the soul of those who survived, but who continue to fight with their invisible wounds.
