About this artwork
This drawing, made in charcoal, expresses fragmentation and reconstruction. The face is as if fragmented, with areas erased and others marked with black, testifying to visible and invisible scars. I wanted to explore here the reconstruction of a mutilated face.
Redrawn pieces of paper are glued together in an attempt to recompose what has been broken and to reassemble a lost identity, in order to symbolize the effort of repair, not only physical,… but also psychological.
I wanted to make palpable this feeling of being both broken and recomposed, a being in transition between what he was and what he has become.
