About this artwork
Over 95% of human genes are identical to those of great apes. They are their closest relatives.
So, an orangutan and a gorilla set off to visit the human species. During their visit, they even adapted somewhat to human customs. The orangutan wore a bra and leisurely smoked a cigar, while the gorilla intently contemplated his glass of red wine.
Their hosts are somewhat uncertain. They don't know what to talk to their guests about. How long are they… staying? What do they want here? Yet they could learn a lot from their guests: As similar as people and their closest relatives may seem, the differences are also significant: close relatives don't wage wars, don't feel or spread hatred, don't destroy the environment, and live peacefully in harmony with nature.

Hans Batschauer is a German painter who exhibits nationally and internationally in both group and solo exhibitions.
Originally painting with oil and acrylic, since 2021 he has focused entirely on digital painting in the style of New Surrealism.
He creates “transformative and mysterious paintings,” as he himself writes, which convey a unique visual language of suggestive power in luminous colors.
In doing so, he does not imitate classical painting techniques, but creates complex hybrid compositions using a whole range of digital tools.
At the heart of his often symbolically and religiously charged picture stories is man with his feelings, dreams and longings.
