About this artwork
Binnen de reeks Memories functioneert dit beeld als een demonstratie van hoe herinnering visueel wordt opgebouwd. Het vertrekpunt — het iconische Marilyn-beeld — wordt sterk gereduceerd tot pose, contour en contrast. Niet het detail, maar de structurele vorm blijft over. Daardoor activeert het werk het geheugen van de kijker: herkenning ontstaat niet door informatie, maar door patroon.
De rasterstructuur en de uitgespaarde vlakken werken als geheugenlagen:… filterend, verarmend, maar tegelijk versterkend. Wat ontbreekt wordt mentaal aangevuld. Zo toont dit werk binnen de reeks niet alleen wat we ons herinneren, maar hoe beelden zich in het brein organiseren — als schema, niet als volledige registratie.
