About this artwork
Dit werk toont een gezicht dat niet gevormd is door identiteit, maar door afdruk en herhaling. Het oppervlak bestaat uit frottage van een boomstructuur op zijdepapier — een indirecte registratie van de werkelijkheid, geen directe weergave. Het gezicht ontstaat uit sporen, niet uit intentie.
De fragiele lagen worden samengehouden door tijdelijke ingrepen, waardoor het beeld eerder bijeen gehouden dan geconstrueerd lijkt. Het goud aan de mond suggereert… een spanning tussen spreken en zwijgen, tussen expressie en afsluiting.
