About this artwork
On one of the lowest layers of paint there is an ornament that I created in the metallic color copper and that was gradually covered with further layers of paint. I was inspired by old houses that reveal beautiful things under different layers of paint and wallpaper. I use a squeegee to apply several layers of paint, each carefully chosen to achieve the right balance between depth and texture. This picture also features sprinkles of sand and some…
copper-colored glitter. The glitter was used very discreetly. I am fascinated by how the patina effects highlight the depth of the layers of paint and breathe life into the picture. In contrast to my other squeegee pictures, the colors here have been chosen from a specific color palette, such as cold green tones, the metallic colors “copper,” and dark and lighter blue tones. The edge is black.
